I have not yet read Dr. Brene Brown’s latest book, Dare to Lead, but I did recently re-read The Gifts of Imperfection, and I was struck by how many of her findings and insights can be applied to parenting. My grandmother turns 100 years old this week. She is an amazing woman who has literally spent her entire life taking care of others - as the second to oldest sibling of 8, as a wife/mother/grandmother/great grandmother, and as a massage therapist at the YMCA. As I balance my second cup of coffee in one hand, my 15 year old sophomore daughter and I chat while I drive her to school early for a tutorial before an exam.
